I shared a very short video yesterday on Instagram and Tiktok about Netanyahu's speech at the UN.
I did it to highlight something that Netanyahu does right…which is share stories.
Which is what my Christian Zionism seminar talks about…how effective story telling is compared with just sharing information. Especially if it's personal stories…which is exactly what Netanyahu did.
But then all day his speech stayed with me.
Because as I mentioned in the video, I never watch UN speeches, so I can't compare Netanyahu's speech with anyone else's. But it just seemed soooo out of place. Like why would he speak like that at the UN???
And the answer is of course: HE WASN'T ACTUALLY SPEAKING TO THE UN.
He was speaking to us, the Israelis.
Not just the ones living in Israel. But all of us living around the globe.
It's so damn genius.
And this is why it's so crazy that the UN would give a war criminal who should be behind bars…a global platform!
Israeli elections are around the corner and Netanyahu was given the golden ticket.
As an Israeli, I can't tell you how much the story of Netanyahu's brother Yoni is at the core of our national identity. In Australia the closest I could think of is Ned Kelly (terrible example but that will have to do).
Even “dormant” zionists will be emotionally triggered hearing his story mentioned on a global platform. And that's exactly what Netanyahu needs to win the next election.…emotions!
Any rational thinking goes out the window.
And Netanyahu's speech was aimed at every type of Jewish Israeli. Religious, secular…there was a story for each of us.
It's exhilarating to see all the protests that took place and the auditorium emptying before the speech…but don't for a moment think that it had much impact.
Netanyahu had FORTY MINUTES to smooth talk his way into the Israeli psyche…and everything else was just noise.
Sigh.
Can someone please explain to me why he was allowed to speak at the UN…I really don't understand.

Easy: because international institutions have been captured by the big players from the start and lately have been fully eroded by them. USA does as it pleases (as perpetrator and supporter of genocide), does not like accountability so undermines all international cooperation and it bends the remaining institutions as much as it can to fit its narrative.
In any real international institution, Israel would have been at least suspended long ago.
He should have been arrested and sent to The Hague.
