I need to apologise.
Last week I was asked to speak to a university group because I’m an Israeli citizen who served in the IDF and I now support the Palestinian liberation.
Only a few hours before the interview I was told that there was a lot of opposition to me speaking and the event was very likely going to be cancelled.
When I asked what the specific concern is, I was told that me previously saying there’s a holocaust in Gaza is offensive, and should have me banned from speaking.
So I need to apologise.
I’m sorry.
I should have been more clear.
What I should have said is:
THERE IS A HOLOCAUST IN GAZA...
AND IT’S WORSE THAN THE JEWISH HOLOCAUST IN EUROPE.
Saying there’s a holocaust in Gaza is not strong enough.
There are many reasons.
But the obvious ones that are impossible to deny:

With the internet and social media NO ONE can claim they don’t know the current holocaust is taking place. This holocaust is being livestreamed and STILL people are turning a blind eye.

This current holocaust is being committed by a state that claims to exist because of a holocaust. If ANYONE should be speaking up against a holocaust it’s the people who are committing it.

The truth tellers who have been documenting, filming and reporting this holocaust have been systematically silenced by being targeted and slaughtered.
So yes, I’m sorry and I apologise for not being more clear.
WE MUST SANCTION ISRAEL NOW!!!
THE HOLOCAUST WILL NOT END UNLESS WORLD LEADERS STEP UP AND TAKE ACTION.

There needs to be transparency around what have been, recently, anonymous complaints. We as a country cannot afford to limit educational hospital rounds, writers festivals, even the work of at least one highly regarded surgeon, I’ve been told. Canada has faced similar- the Art Gallery of Ontario faced opposition to the acquisition of artwork by a well regarded Canadian artist who happened to support Palestinians. In that case the details came out and the relevant board member agreed to resign. Luckily, two other institutions went ahead with the purchase. Canada put the protection of its culture above one board member’s views despite her generous donations. Interesting choice.
Well said. Thank you for your courage and commitment. The Palestinians need all of that to put with their own.
Everyone has their own truth, that's for sure. However, there are also universal truths and what this post says is one of them.
Humanity is in a sorry state when so many who not only ought to know better but do know better, choose to lie and deny rather than tell that truth.
