Oh no!!!
I had this dream last night that is somewhat based on a true story.
I'm sure many of you parents can relate to this.
Saying yes to two adorable hamster "brothers".
And then one of those "brothers" being pregnant 🤦🏼♀️
And of course having adorable baby hamsters...who my kids got emotionally attached too...
And me not realising how young adorable baby mice are in fact teenagers who can BECOME PREGNANT!!!
So yeah, my dream was based on this scenario.
And what started off as two mice in a car. Then became a family of mice. Who then very quickly created more & more baby mice. Every time I thought we had the last mouse, I'd turn around and find more babies. And just like real life, there was this emotional attachment to the baby mice from my kids. I couldn't keep track of the endless mice appearing....only to look down at my feet and see a baby turtle upside on its shell. My heart melted at this little guy, and as I bent down to flip it around...a small wave of water brought in a whole group of baby turtles!
When I thankfully woke up from this adorable but STRESSFUL dream, I realised it perfectly captured my current situation.
I'm surrounded by stories that need my attention. And each story begets more stories. And each one is emotionally charged. I want to care for each one but it's impossible as they multiply quicker than I can attend to them.
Of course the kindest response *in the moment* is to care for each story. But it's just not sustainable.
Most of the stories are fast moving, like the baby mice. But others are more like the baby turtles. And of course I'm still meant to look after my own kids and drive my car. Metaphorically that is.
Maybe I'm sharing this as a way to let you know that I'm doing a terrible job caring for the mice/turtles/kids/car situation. Everyone is not receiving the attention they deserve or need. And I'm upsetting people who feel like I'm ignoring or avoiding their "baby mouse."
So yeah...I'm genuinely sorry...

Reminds me of my daughter aged 5.
Our dog aged 15 died in the summer and I said we would wait until a while and then get a puppy.
In the mean time she sneakily fed a stray cat small bits of her food ( it’s amazing what a small child can do when a parent isn’t watching). I wouldn’t allow the cat into the house. We went away for the weekend and on returning home the cat was in our yard with 3 kittens. As I went to get a towel the cat had bought 2 of them into the house. My daughter giggled and said I’ve always wanted a cat”
