I was seriously injured last year and was incapacitated for around 4 months. I asked for help and received text messages but no practical help from anyone but my mum who travelled from NZ to help after the first op. It's insane that I've lived in Australia for 9 years and STILL don't know anyone who would even make the effort to come visit to break up my days staring at the walls. I felt like I had friends but when the shit his the fan, you realise you do need to do things alone. My car mechanic felt sorry for me and did pop around a couple of times to sort car things to make it easier for me, and offered to pick up a loaf of bread and a packet of ciggies or bottle of coke if that was my thing. Him, I liked.
Ouch!! That hurts. As the check out chick said to me later when noticing that I had gone in twice: it's so sad we all seem to live in our own lanes and not look out for others.
A lovely story that deserves sharing. I've just spent most of the afternoon reading tales from the Middle East and was feeling emotionally drained. This hasn't totally rejuvenated me, but has gone a long way towards warming my heart. ❤️

I agree. It's good to notice the people around us, and help where is needed and where we can.
