Virtual grief
💔
In the past 30 months, whenever someone has asked me how I'm coping, I've said I'm doing okay because I'm speaking up and not remaining silent.
That's been really clear to me and I've tried to encourage others who are struggling to do the same.
I just don't think I realised just HOW much it has helped me…
until now that my social media platforms are gone.
It's actually so confronting to experience what it's like to not have a way to share the information coming in.
It's not just the posts I write a few times a day. But it's the endless videos that I watch and then share.
Not having Facebook & Instagram anymore is impacting me deeply and part of me just wants to curl up and cry while a wave of exhaustion rolls over me.
It's actually a really bizarre experience observing myself…
As I said to someone (while crying) today:
It's not like I had my house broken into or my bike stolen. The violation has happened but not in a realm that is within reach. It feels so strange to “grieve” something that doesn't really exist. Especially because most people in my immediate world don't use social media.
